Home Is Where the Heart Is

Wow. It was a long week without the Internet, but I have to say it was kind of nice to be without it.
It was a little break away from the computer, and a time to think and ponder about all of the things I have to say to anyone who reads my thoughts.
At first it may seem that by taking a break we may not be as productive as we would initially like. In reality, a healthy period of rest is something that gives us a real sense of the unlimited nature of our true potential.

We had the best time in Virginia Beach. It's funny we have so many places that we call home. It's kind of nice to know we have more than one home. I am so thankful this Thanksgiving for all that I have. The thing to remember about the world, though, is that it ebbs and flows, expands and contracts, gives and takes, and is by its very nature somewhat unreliable. If we only feel gratitude when it serves our desires, this is not true thankfulness. No one is exempt from the twists and turns of fate, which may, at any time, take the possessions, situations, and people we love away from us. Ironically, it is sometimes this kind of loss that awakens us to a thankfulness that goes deeper than just being grateful when things go our way. I read that somewhere and I thought it was very profound. Conner's parents are such an amazing support to us and we are truly so thankful for their love and support. When we got home last night I was rocking Van in his room holding him so close to my heart and thinking that this place is what he calls home right now. I feel so happy when he is right next to my heart.

This year has not been the easiest on us, but I can say that it has been the most life changing, and moving year of my life. I have grown in ways I never knew I could grow and I have let other selfish ways go. Today is about giving, and about raising a son, loving my husband and making sure their needs are met. I do need to have some fun too and I do that. But my heart is truly filled when I am doing things for others. It's weird how that works isn't it?

Growing Baby

I took this photo of Van and I the other day in the mirror, we are just getting ready this weekend for our trip to the east coast on Monday. To see everyone for turkey day!

Van just got two teeth last week, I took some photos of him when the teeth were coming in and I didn't even know it, but here he is telling me with his fingers that his teeth were hurting. I saw the pools of drool coming out of his mouth but since these are his first teeth. So he has two little teeth in there now and he loves feeling them with his tongue. He gets slices of frozen cucumbers everyday when he is in his highchair and he loves it.
He is super active and wanting to be moving all the time now, he is even doing a little downward dog yoga move/ push up when he is laying on his belly.

I had not let Van try sand until we were recently at the beach with everyone and he just scooped a little up in his fingers, and put it right into that mouth of his... Check out his reaction - "it tasted a little gritty and not as yummy as those apples and pears mom makes for me."

First Words

Vegas was different this time, we went with a baby (who was sick)! He was such a good sport about it and didn't cry that much, but there was a significant increase in the crying. Van's Poppa took care of us, he put us up in a hotel and fed us too! So that was really nice of him, he is also flying us to Virginia Beach for Thanksgiving to be with family.
Thanks Poppa for your love, generosity and support!

I am a little late on my postings I know we went to Vegas over a week ago, but I have not been feeling the greatest lately either. Here are a couple of pics from Vegas, we went to Trader Vic's and Van got to chew on a cold piece of cucumber from dad's cocktail. I love that restaurant so much! The new one in Vegas is in the new Planet Hollywood hotel. We went to the Trader Vic's in Beverly Hills when we got engaged.

Here is a picture of Van in his new winter hat we bought him in Vega's. He looks sharp doesn't he?

Van has said his first word "LOLA" he pronounces it "wowa". Today I was in my closet and I heard him yell "MA" I came out and he had a huge smile on his face.

I just started making stationary with my new printer....
Here is one I made for a friend who just had a little one.
I am going to be selling stationary packs on this blog for the holidays so get your orders in now! They make great gifts, because everyone has to write thank yous after the holidays especially our little kiddies.
